We found a bug (error) in xpaint. when we click backspace while drawing when we type any text in a canvas, and press backspace to remove any character xpaint closed unexpectedly. Here is the solution for this. just update your xpaint version by downloading the following packages.

current version of xpaint 2.6.3 so upgrade it to 2.9

to do this download the following files

1. xpaint version 2.9.3 from http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/i386/xpaint/download
2. libjpeg62 from http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/i386/libjpeg62/download
3. libxaw3dxft6 from http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/i386/libxaw3dxft6/download

copy these 3 files in to a folder for e.g "xpaint" in desktop (in administrator account i.e the account created at the time of installation)
then right click on the folder and select open in terminal then type sudo dpkg -i *
type user password. xpaint version will upgrade to 2.9.open xpaint  from the main menu. its works fine.....
Thank you

if your old CRT monitor displays resolution "800x600" you have to change it into at least 1024x768.LCD & LED monitor displays high resolution so no need to change.

To change screen resolution click on "System" menu --> then "Preferences" --> then select "Monitors"

if your monitor supports 1024x768 resolution then you have to change 800x600 in to it from right top position of the window. do not change refresh rate or any other properties. To apply this click on "apply" button and it will ask to keep this changes every time when you login then click "keep this configuration" and close all windows.
thats all enjoy................

you can try dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg to change your display card properties. to do this you need administrative privileges.
